Founding collection

Screen Icons Scotland is currently working to secure its first major pieces.

If successful, these founding acquisitions will give the museum an opening collection capable of standing alongside the most exciting screen memorabilia exhibitions in the world.

These are not ordinary objects.

In the world of cinema history, the right prop, costume or screen-used artefact can carry the same power as a masterpiece in an art gallery. It is the museum equivalent of hanging a Van Gogh - a physical object that people know, remember and travel to see.

A hat.  A ticket.  A set of claws.  A portal.  A costume.  A creature.  A relic from another world.

The founding collection is being developed around pieces with genuine cultural weight - objects that shaped stories, defined characters and helped audiences believe in impossible worlds.

Our aim is not to gather random memorabilia. Our aim is to build a collection with presence, provenance and public impact.

Every object considered for the founding collection is being assessed for authenticity, condition, screen history, display value, preservation needs and its ability to contribute to a world-class visitor experience.

The first major acquisitions will set the standard for everything that follows.

They will define the museum.

They will shape the visitor experience.

They will announce what Screen Icons Scotland is here to become: a serious new destination for cinema history, built in Scotland and open to the public.
